Synopsis

On August 28, 1977 – 40 years ago – the “King of Soccer” left his throne vacant.

Pelé officially quit his job: mesmerizing the world. His last soccer jersey, “that” soccer jersey, became the shroud of the history of soccer.

This is a journey through his last match, a long farewell reported by those who were

there and left a mark not only on Pelé but also on an era.

This documentary film by Emanuela Audisio (winner of the ”Guirlande d’Honneur 2017” and  of the “Gianni Brera” award as best journalist) features the last ninety minutes played by the first real God of modern soccer, “O Rei”, the Brazilian ace, the three-time world cup winner, the one who made the whole planet fall in love with him and hopelessly tried to seduce America as well.

It all starts from the testimony of the player who had to guard Pelé during his last match, an amicable between Cosmos and Santos – the only teams in Pelé’s life beside

the Brazilian national – that gave him the opportunity to wave goodbye and quit with a goal match.

Jimmy McAlister now rewinds the tape of memories and opens the safe box in the bank where he keeps as a most treasured memento the last Cosmos green jersey with Pelé’s name and number.

He tells the story of the Cosmos who were “the” team of gods, the celebrities, the artists of soccer. The cool & awesomely fashionable team of the fabulous Seventies.
